Your First BJJ Class
Walking in the door is the hardest part. We're glad you've decided to try us out. You only need a few things for your first BJJ class:
Wear comfortable workout clothes - t-shirts or rash guards tops, no tank tops.
Bring a water bottle
You'll be grappling with other people so make sure your nails are trimmed and clean, your clothes and body are clean, and that you have something to pull back long hair
We don't allow shoes or jewelry on the mats for sanitary and safety reasons
When you show up, you'll sign a waiver and we'll answer any questions you have before getting started. Please come in a few minutes early so we can get you all set up. Our classes combine all levels, but if you have no experiene with grappling, we will work with you to get you up to speed. Everyone works at their own pace and level and new students are always welcome at Iowa Park Jiu Jitsu Club.
During class, there will be a brief warmup, drilling of a techique or series of techniques, and then a session of putting your BJJ into practice through live rolling. We'll ease you into the live rolling as you gain some experience and confidence. No one is ever required to participate in rolling or sparring sessions.
